This 4-week paddleboarding (SUP) course provides a slow-paced, in-depth introduction to essential equipment, skills, and safety practices. Throughout the series, participants will learn about board types, appropriate clothing, safety gear, trip planning basics, and proper paddling techniques including strokes, balance and stance, turning, bracing, and self-rescue. Each week offers ample time to review skills, receive personalized feedback, and develop comfort on the water, culminating in a group paddle and an emergency scenario that reinforces readiness and competence.
No experience necessary. Ages 15+
Course Outline:
• Week 1: Covers an introduction to paddleboarding, including gear overview, board selection and sizing, proper stance and balance, basic strokes, and launching/landing from shore.
• Week 2: Focuses on SUP specific self-rescue techniques, and how to assist others in getting back onto their boards.
• Week 3: Introduces more advanced maneuvering skills, including step back turns, edging, bracing, and efficiency drills to improve stability and power.
• Week 4: Puts everything together with a guided paddle tour and a structured emergency scenario to apply skills learned throughout the series.
