At Code Ninjas, kids learn to code while building their own video games. They gain problem solving, critical thinking, and STEM skills in a fun, safe, and inspiring environment.
JR STEM Discoveries (June 13-June 17, 9:00AM-12:00PM OR 1:00PM-4:00PM)
Ages: 5-7
JR Ninjas, come discover the world of STEM by designing and building hands-on projects. You will learn about electricity, building, and more. Plus, you will get to take your projects home!
JR Adventures in Game Design (June 13-June 17, 9:00AM-12:00PM OR 1:00PM-4:00PM)
Ages: 5-7
In this amazing game building camp, Ninjas will learn some of the basics of computer science by coding mini games such as a maze, hide-and-seek, and even your very own creation!
Code Your Own Robot in Minecraft (June 20-June 24, July 18-July 22 & August 15-August 19, 9:00AM-12:30PM OR 9:00AM-4:00PM)
Ages: 8 and up
Ninjas will use code to control a robot in Minecraft Education Edition. Through simple programming, they'll apply complex computer science concepts to automate the boring parts of Minecraft, such as farming, digging, and more. Ninjas will use concepts like loops and functions to code crazy things like spawning hundreds of chickens from the sky! They will have a blast sharing their work and playing in a world together with their fellow campers.
Become a YouTuber (June 20-June 24, July 18-July 22 & August 15-August 19, 9:00AM-12:30PM OR 9:00AM-4:00PM)
Ages: 8 and up
Ninjas will work together to create and customize a shared YouTube channel, including the design of unique channel art, profile pictures, and video thumbnails, They will also be guided through how to record, edit, and upload videos. Throughout camp, Ninjas will analyze popular YouTube videos and learn about copyright and fair use to give them what it takes to become a YouTuber!
Intro to Roblox Development (June 27-July 1, July 25-July 29 & August 22-August 26, 9:00AM-12:30PM OR 9:00AM-4:00PM)
Ages: 8 and up
In this hands-on, fully-guided experience, Ninjas will learn the basics of game building and creative development in Roblox: an exciting, online gaming platform. Ninjas will spend their time building and exploring new worlds in Roblox before sharing their creations locally and globally. This camp will teach Ninjas how to plan, design, and build their own 3D world to create much more than just a game!
Next Level Roblox Development (June 27-July 1, July 25-July 29 & August 22-August 26, 9:00AM-12:30PM OR 9:00AM-4:00PM)
Ages: 8 and up
Experienced Roblox game builders will take their skills to the next level in this camp as they learn coding fundamentals and dig deeper into the game-making side of Roblox. Using the Lua programming language, Ninjas will create their own timed, sudden-death Roblox game along with an interactive obstacle course. By the end of camp, Ninjas will showcase their game, play their peers' games, and publish their creation to the Roblox world. (Intro to Roblox Development Camp or similar Roblox experience required.)
Program and Play in Python (July 5-July 8 & August 1-August 5, 9:00AM-12:30PM OR 9:00AM-4:00PM)
Ages: 8 and up
Boost coding skills while learning and playing with friends in this crash course on the Python programming language - no previous coding experience required! Ninjas will follow along with the "Code this Game!" book to build a strategy action game from the ground up in Python. As they practice game design concepts like spawning and enemy AI, they will begin to see how computer code is behind all the games and programs we use daily. Code Senseis will then guide Ninjas as they modify the game to create their own unique versions.
Adventures in Game Design (July 5-July 8 & August 1-August 5, 9:00AM-12:30PM OR 9:00AM-4:00PM)
Ages: 8 and up
Ninjas will explore different programming concepts as they create various games inspired by Breakout, Snake, Flappy Bird, and more using a block-based programming language called Scratch - a kid-friendly, visual programming environment developed by MIT. Our team will introduce basic game design and programming concepts like loops, functions, and even video detection to create their own games.
Modding with Minecraft (July 11-July 15 & August 8-August 12, 9:00AM-12:30PM OR 9:00AM-4:00PM)
Ages: 8 and up
Developed for experienced Minecraft players, this camp teachers Ninjas how to make unique mods - modifications that change the game! They will create their own custom tools, weapons, armor, enemies, and more! By the end of the camp,, Ninjas will be able to export their mods for friends and family to explore at home using Minecraft Java Edition.
Movie Making with Minecraft (July 11-July 15 & August 8-August 12, 9:00AM-12:30PM OR 9:00AM-4:00PM)
Ages: 8 and up
Ninjas will shift their imagination into high gear as they learn scene building, storytelling, and video recording featuring their own Minecraft world. They will also jump into the basics of editing and mixing audio as they produce their final stories as short movies. Using Minecraft as a creative medium, Ninjas will have fun expressing themselves and sharing their stories with friends. They will leave this camp with a deeper understanding of how creativity and technology can work together to tell exciting stories.
A one-time $30 registration fee will be collected on the first day for new campers.
