12:00 PM - 3:00 PM    Adult Art Workshops (1 day) with Chrysalis Art Center - Pendant Wire Wrapping and Jewelry Art
Clay Monoprinting Workshop with Meredith WakefieldIf you think you can’t draw, you can’t paint or have no artistic ability, this class is for you! Learn how Mitch Lyon’s’ unique printmaking process changed the way clay can be used. You will be working from a slab of clay, adding layers of colored clay slips, pastels, textures and imagery. From this, the monoprints will be pulled. Even if you’ve never worked with clay or know nothing about printmaking, you’ll be excited to learn how to pull your very own clay monoprints. All levels welcome. Leaf Press Clay Wall Hanging or Platter WorkshopCome and create your very own wall hanging or platter imprinted with flowers and leaves of your choice. In this 2 hour workshop you will receive a piece of clay to roll out and arrange foliage on. You will be given underglaze to color the foliage and/or background. Bring your own foliage or use the foliage provided. These pieces can be hung or the edges can be raised to create a food-safe platter. Pieces will be fired and can be picked up once they are fired.Pendant Wire Wrapping Workshop Wire wrapping is a simple but flexible technique that can be applied to jewelry in numerous ways. By learning a few of the rudimentary skills, you can alter and reimagine them into increasingly complex pieces. The materials and tools required are basic, which lends itself well to creating your own designs at home. Wire wrapped jewelry makes for a wonderful gift and is an exciting form of wearable art as unique as the artist. This workshop will walk you step-by-step through various techniques to produce a stunning wire-wrapped pendant.Wool Art Painting Workshop Wool watercolor is an exceptional art where the piece is created by layering dry wool layer by layer onto fabric (not needle felting). This unique technique allows you to create stunning art with 3-D effect, keeping all secrets of creation under the glass. Under the weight of glass these complex layers of wool appear unbelievably vibrant and rich. Working with wool is a meditative process with therapeutic effects where small motor skills exercise, calm down, and relax the nervous system. During the workshop Maria will lead you step by step and help you finish this richly colored artwork- ready to hang! Choose any picture or painting to recreate in wool.
